The Pittsburgh Pirates head into a three-game series with the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field with a 51-71 record. Outside of the playoff hunt, the Pirates aim to finish their season strong, heading into the 2026 season. Outside of Paul Skenes this team needs a lot of help and better health. Jared Jones has been missing all year, and the offense has been dismal. They have scored 432 runs this season, averaging just over three and a half runs a game this year. Before today’s game against the Cubs, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced three roster moves. They recalled two pitchers from Triple-A. One player was designated for assignment.

Ryan Borucki

The Pittsburgh Pirates have designated left-handed pitcher Ryan Borucki for assignment before the match-up today with the Chicago Cubs. Borucki pitched in 35 games this year for the Pirates with one win and three losses on the season. He threw 30 and two-thirds innings, recording a 5.28 ERA over that time.

Evan Sisk

The Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled left-handed pitcher Evan Sisk from the Indianapolis Indians of Triple-A today. Sisk has already pitched in five games this season for the Pirates without factoring in a decision. He has pitched five and one-third innings, recording a 1.69 ERA. In the limited innings, Sisk has managed to strike out 11 batters this year.

Colin Holderman

The Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled right-handed pitcher Colin Holderman from Triple-A today ahead of their game. In 14 games this year, Holderman has one loss and a 9.00 ERA over 15 innings of work. Holderman has struck out 11 batters and recorded a 2.07 WHIP on the year.
