The Pittsburgh Pirates wrap up their three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers as they look to avoid being swept. The Pirates are 4-8 in August, averaging 4.8 runs per game while allowing 7.1 runs per game. The Pirates have allowed 10+ runs in three games this month, and two of those have come in their last three games. Today, the Pirates placed outfielder Oneil Cruz on the seven-day injured list after leaving last night’s game with a concussion. To replace Cruz, they recalled second baseman Ronny Simon from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Cruz, this season in 108 games, is hitting .207 with a .702 OPS. He has 17 doubles, two triples, 18 home runs, 51 RBI, 58 runs scored, 34 stolen bases, and 54 walks. Ronny Simon

Simon, in 19 games with the Miami Marlins, hit .234 with a .604 OPS. He had two doubles, five RBI, six runs scored, and seven walks. In 52 games at Triple-A Indianapolis, he hit .291 with a .832 OPS. He had nine doubles, a triple, seven home runs, 30 RBI, 35 runs scored, 24 stolen bases, and 32 walks.
