The Pittsburgh Pirates will look to win the series against the Reds this afternoon. They blanked the Reds yesterday in a one-to-nothing victory. The Pirates are last in the NL Central with a 16-33 record this year. The Pirates are 13 games behind the division-leading Cubs at the start of today. Andrew Heaney will face Brady Singer in the series finale this afternoon. They will start a four-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers at PNC Park tomorrow. Before today’s game, they recalled Mike Burrows from Triple-A. They also sent Carmen Mlodzinski down to Indianapolis to make room on the roster.

Mike Burrows

The Pirates have recalled right-hand pitcher Mike Burrows from Triple-A Indianapolis today before their game against the Reds. Burrows has pitched in one game so far this season for the Pirates. He earned the victory in that lone appearance, pitching 3.1 innings allowing two hits, one earned run, three walks, and struck out two. He has made seven starts for the Indianapolis Indians this season. Burrows has a 2-1 record with a 2.51 ERA in 32.1 innings pitched in Triple-A.

Carmen Mlodzinski

The Pittsburgh Pirates have optioned right-hand pitcher Carmen Mlodzinski to Indianapolis in Triple-A. He has made nine starts this year with the Pirates. Mlodzinski has had one win and four losses in the season. He has pitched 39.2 innings allowing a 5.67 ERA, a 1.61 WHIP, and a .311 batting average against this year. Mlodzinski walked 12 and struck out 28 during his time with the Pirates so far this year.
