Picks of the Day, 5/2

Tanner Houck has been the only reliable starter for the Red Sox. How many Jays can he fan today? Billie Weiss/Boston Red Sox/Getty Images

Not a bad Monday with limited options. Over in San Diego hit easily, and the Under in Washington came in with 2 runs to spare. Of course, the easiest bet of the day (Braves -1.5) did not hit. Strider was off his game and the bullpen blew a 6-1 lead, then AJ Minter allowed one run in the 9th for the Mets to cover.

2-1 yesterday. 48-41 on the season.
Pick #1
Blue Jays @ Red Sox, Houck to record Over 4.5 Ks, -140
Should be an easy one, and the line agrees. Toronto lineup is righty heavy, Houck is at about one K per inning. Just has to go 5 for this to hit. Unofficially, I like the under on this game too. It’s set at 10, which seems high for two solid starters, and a cold rainy night in Boston.
Pick #2
D-Backs @ Rangers, Zac Gallen Over 18.5 outs recorded, +135
Needed a pick with some juice. Gallen has gone past 6 innings in all but the first start, in which he went exactly 6. He is a top 3 pitcher in the game right now. Strikeout line is 6.5 as well, which seems low.
Pick #3
Twins @ White Sox, Twins -1.5 Run line, +100
Joe Ryan is on the bump and the twinkies are 5-0 behind him. Kopech is 0-3 with an ERA over a touchdown per 9. Kopech has also allowed 8 home runs already which is absurd. Maybe throw in Gallo +300, or Christian Vazquez +900 to hit a home run.
Reach
Gallo is too easy today, so I’m going way out on a limb and taking Shohei Ohtani at +550 to hit a home run against the Cardinals and Steven Matz
