The Philadelphia Phillies continue their Grapefruit League action today. They have a split squad. One squad plays the Baltimore Orioles at home. The other team will play at the Toronto Blue Jays today. They currently have a three-win- three loss record in the spring. They are coming off a 95-67 record from last season when they won the National League East division. Their season was ended by division foes last year as they lost in the NLDS against the New York Mets. They have announced several roster moves ahead of their split-squad action today.

OF- Hendry Mendez

The Phillies have assigned Mendez to the roster today before the game. Last year, he played in 90 games for the Jersey Shore Blueclaws in Single-A+ ball. He had a .284 batting average and a slash line of .386/.391/.777. He drove in 41 runs while scoring another 49 runs for the Blueclaws last year.

C – Luke Davis

The Phillies have assigned Davis to the roster ahead of today’s games. Last year, he played 35 games for La Crosse in the Northwoods league and had a .259 batting average.

SS – Juan Villavicencio

The Phillies have assigned Villavicencio to the roster ahead of today’s games. Last year, in 49 games between rookie ball and Single-A with the Clearwater Threshers, he had a .251 batting average and a slash line of .364/.365/.729.

3B – Luis Verdugo

The Phillies assigned Verdugo to the roster before today’s games. Last year, Verdugo was in the Chicago Cubs’ farm system, playing 109 games at Double-A for the Tennessee Smokies. He had a .257 batting average and a slash line of .313/.328/.641 on the year.

LHP – Braeden Fausnaught

The Phillies have also assigned Fausnaught to the roster ahead of today’s game. Last year, he pitched in 24 games between Jersey Shore Blueclaws and Reading Fightin Phils. He started 23 of the 24 games pitched and had a nine-win and six-loss record. He had a 3.57 ERA over 126 innings of work and struck out 122 batters.

RHP – Daniel Harper

The Phillies have assigned Harper to the roster today ahead of the game. Harper played in 44 games last year. These games were split between Single-A+ and Double-A. He played with the Jersey Shore Blueclaws and the Reading Fightin Phils. He pitched in 51 innings with a losing record on the year with four losses and only three wins. He had a 2.82 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP on the year.

C – Luis Caicuto

The Phillies have also assigned Caicuto to the roster ahead of today’s games. He spent last year in Single-A with Clearwater before being called up to Single-A+ with the Jersey Shore squad. In a total of 65 games last year, he struggled at the plate with a .218 batting average and a slash line of .319/.264/.583.

LF – TJayy Walton

The Phillies added Walton to the roster today ahead of the split-squad games. Walton played 36 games with Clearwater in Single-A. He had a .200 batting average and a slash line of .331/.333/.664 on the year.

SS – Erick Brito

The Phillies have added Brito to the roster today before the split-squad games. Brito played 111 games in the minors between Jersey Shore (A+) and Reading (AA) last year. He had a .243 batting average with a slash line of .352/.358/.710, and he stole 21 bases last year.

C – Jordan Dissin

The Phillies have added Dissin to the roster today. It was part of a flurry of moves. These changes were made before the split-squad games took place. Like many of today’s moves, Dissin spent last year between Jersey Shore and Reading. In 84 games, he had nine home runs, 41 RBIs, a .213 batting average, and a slash line of .342/.340/.682 last year.
