The New York Yankees have designated Randal Grichuk for assignment before today’s game with the Rangers. Grichuk has played in 16 games this season for New York. He has a .194 batting average with four doubles and two RBI this season.

Elmer Rodriguez

The New York Yankees have recalled right-hand pitcher Elmer Rodriguez from the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. The 22-year-old pitcher will be making his MLB Debut Wednesday night. Rodriguez will make the start for the Yankees opposite Nathan Eovaldi for the Rangers. He has one win and two losses this season in four starts for the RailRiders in Triple-A. Rodriguez has a 1.27 ERA, a 0.89 WHIP, 20 strikeouts, and has held opponents to a .171 average in 21.1 innings pitched this year.
