New York Mets Roster Moves

New York Mets Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The New York Mets opened their season with a three-game set against the Milwaukee Brewers. They lost all three games against the Brewers getting off to a slow start to the new season. They started a new series against the Detroit Tigers today and wasted a good start from Sean Manaea when losing 5-0 the the Tigers in 10 innings. Monday the Mets made two roster moves ahead of their game against the Tigers.

RHP – Tylor Megill

The Mets place Megill on the 15-day Injured list with a right shoulder strain. Megill made his first start Sunday for the Mets against the Brewers. He through four innings, was the losing pitcher of record giving up only one earned run. He gave up three hits, and two runs total, walked three batters, struck out four, and finished with a 2.25 ERA. It’s not clear if Megill will require a rehab start or not, but he will at least miss two to three turns through the rotation. This leaves the Mets in quite the pickle with a beat-up staff to begin with.

RHP – Reed Garrett

Garrett was recalled by the Mets from the Syracuse Mets today to take the place of Megill on the active roster. He appeared in one game so far this year for the Syracuse Mets pitching two innings, allowing one hit, and struck out four. Last year for the Mets he appeared in nine games and two for the Baltimore Orioles. Combined he pitched 19.2 innings, with a 6.41 ERA, and was 1-0 on the year. He struck out 16, walked seven, and had a 1.47 WHIP between the two teams.
