The New York Mets have announced four roster moves before todays game against the Washington Nationals in Grapefruit League action. The moves were led by Justin Hagenman being optioned to Triple-A to play with the Syracuse Mets. The Mets have five wins, eight losses, and two ties so far this spring. These roster moves happened on March 9th, 2025. They are part of the Mets trimming their roster down ahead of Opening Day.

RHP – Justin Hagenman

Today the Mets made some roster moves. They have optioned Justin Hagenman to Triple-A. He will pitch for the Syracuse Mets. During spring training, Hagenman pitched in only two games for the Mets. He pitched in four innings, striking out three without giving up an earned run. Justin Hagenman currently leaves the big league camp with a 0.00 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP. The Mets signed Hagenman as a free agent in pursuit of reliable pitchers like Justin Hagenman. He spent last year pitching for the Worcester Red Sox, the Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. Last season in Triple-A he had four wins, six losses and a 4.91 ERA.

RHP – Kevin Herget

Today the Mets have Optioned Herget to Triple-A to pitch for the Syracuse Mets as part of their roster moves. This spring he appeared in four games without factoring in any decisions. He worked four innings recording five strikeouts, a 6.75 ERA, and a 0.75 WHIP. Kevin Herget was claimed off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers this winter. Now he will return to Triple-A camp. He needs to get prepared for the season. This is one of the four roster moves made by the Mets on March 9th, 2025.

1B – Jared Young

The Mets have optioned Jared Young to the Syracuse Mets down in Triple-A today March 9th, 2025. Over his time this spring with the Mets he had 19 at bats with four hits and two RBIs. Jared Young finishes his big league spring training camp with a .211 batting average and a slash line of .348/.211/.559. This is another step in the roster adjustment process which also included moves for Justin Hagenman.

RHP – Austin Warren

The Mets optioned Austin Warren to the Syracuse Mets in Triple-A today, March 9th, 2025. Austin Warren pitched in five games this spring over five innings total. He finished with a 7.20 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and three strikeouts. The Mets claimed Warren off waivers from the San Francisco Giants this offseason. He appeared in six games for the Giants last year with an 1.69 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP over 10.2 innings of work. Much like Justin Hagenman, Warren was also part of the adjustments made by the Mets.

The Mets will be fighting within the National League East this year for a playoff birth. The four roster moves made today, March 9th, 2025, were important for the New York Mets. They continue to shape the roster they desire ahead of opening day. Justin Hagenman is a name to watch. He had an impressive spring.
