Troy Sends Ole Miss Home
Ole Miss jumped on the board first as Judd Utermark singled home a run, then Hayden Federico doubled home a run to make it 2-0. The Trojans knotted things up with a two-run home run from Sean Darnell. Ole Miss answered with a two-run homer from Brayden Randle. The Rebels added to their lead with another two-run home run. This one was from Collin Reuter. His home run made it 6-2. Troy inched close in the fifth inning with a run scored via a balk. They then got two runs on a Darnell two RBI single to make it 6-5.
The Trojans exploded in the seventh with a solo home run from Jimmy Janicki to tie the game, then Jabe Boroff singled home two runs. Houston Markham singled home another run, making it 9-6. Austin Fawley singled home a run to make it 9-7. Troy was at it against as Blake Cavill hit a solo home run, then two more runs scored on an error, making it 12-7. Ole Miss got another run in the eighth as Will Furniss hit a solo home run to make it 12-8.
Tommy Egan got the start for Troy, going two innings, allowing four runs, two earned, on four hits. He walked two and struck out two. Noah Thigpen was the one who kept the Rebels at bay as he went five innings, allowing two runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out five. Zach Crotchfelt shut the door to keep Troy alive, going one inning and striking out two. Hunter Elliott got the start for Ole Miss, going 4.2 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits. He walked four and struck out nine.
North Carolina Sends West Virginia to Eliminate Game
In the first, North Carolina got on the board. Erik Paulsen drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 1-0. Cooper Nicholson brought home another run on a groundout. The Mountaineers got on the board in the third as Armani Guzman singled home a run. They knotted things up in the fourth as Matt Ineich brought home a run as he grounded into a double play. Gavin Gallgher gave the Tar Heels the lead with a two-run triple in the seventh. Gallagher would then score on an Owen Hull single, making it 5-2. West Virginia had their chance with runners on first and second with one out. North Carolina got the last two outs and sent West Virginia to an elimination game.
Ryan Lynch got the start, going 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits. He walked two and struck out two. Walker McDuffie came in relief and went 3.2 scoreless innings on three hits. He walked two and struck out four. Caden Glauber shut the door with back-to-back strikeouts. Maxx Yehl got the start for West Virginia, going seven innings, allowing five runs, two earned, on eight hits. He walked one and struck out seven.
