Red Sox vs. Northeastern
Scoring
Northeastern started the scoring in the first inning as Harrison Feinberg singled, then stole second and would score on a Ryan Gerety single. In the bottom half of the inning, Masataka Yoshida hit a one-out ground rule double. Kristian Campbell would drive in Yoshida on a single to make it 1-1. Northeastern took the lead in the second inning. Anthony Ruggiero started the inning off with a single. He then stole second and third and would score on a throwing error to make it 2-1 Huskies.
Ronald Rosario made up for his throwing error, which allowed Ruggiero to score. He led off the bottom of the third with a solo home run to center field. Boston took the lead in the third after Rosario’s home run. Nate Eaton doubled, Yoshida walked, and both tagged up on a Kristian Campbell sacrifice fly. Nathan Hickey then would reach on a throwing error by the pitcher, allowing both Yoshida and Eaton to score to make it 4-2 Red Sox.
The Red Sox added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth. They started with back-to-back singles before Eaton popped out. Braiden Ward was then hit by a pitch, and Campbell hit a sacrifice fly to make it 5-2. Hickey then doubled home two to make it 7-2. Hickey would then score on a Mickey Romero triple to make it 8-2. The Red Sox tacked on another run in the fifth as Braiden Ward drove home Mickey Gasper on a fielder’s choice.
Nine Run Sixth
The Red Sox, after three straight walks, got a single from Marvin Alcantara to drive in two, then Gasper singled home Jack Winnay to make it 12-2. Boston got another run as Ward singled home Alcantara. Max Ferguson kept the line moving, singling home Gasper. Phillip Sikes then singled home two more to make it 16-2 Red Sox. Corey Rosier then singled home Ferguson to make it 17-2. Winnay drove home Sikes on a sacrifice fly. Northeastern did get a run back in the top of the seventh as Tom Mahoney singled home Cooper Tarantino
Pitching
Boston
Uberstine went 1.1 innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on four hits; he didn’t walk any and struck out three. Max Carlson came in to finish off the second inning without allowing a base runner and struck out one. Wyatt Olds pitched the third, going one inning and issuing a walk. Noah Song got the fourth, and he walked one and struck out one. Jeremy Wu-Yelland got the fifth for the Red Sox. He allowed a leadoff single, but that was all as he struck out one. Jack Anderson got the sixth and seventh, he allowed a run on two hits and struck out three.
Northeastern
Robbie O’Connor got the start for Northeastern, going two innings, allowing one run on two hits; he didn’t walk anyone and struck out one. Scott Longo got the third inning for the Huskies. Longo allowed three runs, two earned on two hits, and walked one. Sophomore Angel Cruz got the bottom of the fourth. Cruz allowed four runs on four hits. Cooper Maher got the fifth for Northeastern. He allowed a few base runners on a hit-by-pitch and two walks. He would allow just one run on a fielder’s choice.
Jack Crooper got the sixth inning and failed to record an out, allowing five runs on two hits and three walks. Max Marchetti came in for Northeastern, and he allowed two of Crooper’s runners to score. He also allowed four runs of his own on three hits after going just 0.1 innings. Tom Mahoney then came in and allowed two of Marchetti’s runners to score, but he would get out of the winning, allowing one hit.

The Red Sox will face the Minnesota Twins tomorrow at 1:05 PM EST. They will have Payton Tolle getting the start. He went 0-1 with a 6.06 ERA, a 1.59 WHIP, and 19 strikeouts in 16.1 innings with the Red Sox last season. Tolle is fighting for the fifth and final spot in the Red Sox rotation. Northeastern will face the Minnesota Golden Gophers tomorrow at 6:05 PM EST and then again on Sunday at 1:00 PM EST.
