The Cardinals tied things up in the first as Jose Fermin singled home Alec Burleson, who reached via a walk. In the top of the third, Miami took the lead back as Christopher Morel singled home Jakob Marsee, who walked earlier in the inning. The Cardinals even things up in the bottom of the fourth. JJ Wetherholt drew a lead-off walk. He then stole second and then advanced to third on a throwing error. He would then score on an error to make it 2-2.
The Marlins took the lead back with an RBI double by Javier Sanoja that drove home Griffin Conine. The Marlins led 3-2. Miami got an insurance run as Ryan Ignoffo was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and it brought home Jesus Bastidas.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Cardinals came alive. Ryan Weingartner doubled home Jalen Flores to make it a run game. Jeremy Rivas then doubled home Weingartner to tie the game at 4-4. Noah Mendelinger, who was on third after the Rivas double, would score on a wild pitch to give the Cardinals a walk-off 5-4 win over the Marlins.
