Probable Starting Pitchers

Game 1: James Taillon (1-1, 6.06 ERA) vs. Dylan Cease (1-1, 7.98 ERA)

Taillon will get the first game for the Cubs. Last start, he went six innings against the Rangers. He allowed five hits, three runs, one walk, and struck out six. Cease will go for the Padres. He lost his last start against the Athletics. He went four innings, allowed nine hits, nine runs, three walks, and struck out four.

Game 2: Shota Imanaga (2-1, 2.70 ERA) vs. Randy Vasquez (1-1, 1.72 ERA)

Imanaga will start game two for the Cubs. He took the loss last start against the Rangers. He pitched five innings, allowed five runs on seven hits, one walk, and struck out four. Vasquez beat the Athletics last start. He pitched five innings, allowing one hit, one run, three walks, and struck out one.

Game 3: Matthew Boyd (1-1, 1.59 ERA) vs. Nick Pivetta (2-1, 1.59 ERA)

Boyd will start game three for the Cubs. He pitched six innings. Boyd allowed four hits, three runs, and three walks. He also struck out seven in a loss to the Dodgers last start. Pivetta will go for the Padres. He beat the Rockies last start. He pitched seven innings, allowed three hits, no runs, one walk, and struck out 10.

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs have been getting a ton of production from their catching tandem of Carson Kelly and Miguel Amaya. Kelly has already hit for the cycle this year. Combined, they have driven in 24 runs and hit five home runs. Kelly has a .417 batting average with a 1.613 OPS in eight games for the Cubs. He has four home runs, one double, one triple, and 13 RBI. Amaya has a .278 batting average with a .762 OPS in 10 games for the Cubs. He has four doubles, one home run, and 11 RBI. The duo will try and continue their hot start in this three-game series with the Padres. Note: Kelly was removed from the game on Sunday night. A pitch hit him on the hand in the fifth inning. He will undergo X-rays on Monday.

San Diego Padres

Fernando Tatis Jr is off to a red-hot start this year. He has a .351 batting average with a .994 OPS. He has 13 runs, with one double, four home runs, nine RBI, and six steals. In six games last year against the Cubs had a .240 batting average with six hits, four RBI, and four runs scored.
