Minnesota Twins Roster Moves 7/24

The Twins went into play today with a 56-45 record and have won the three-game series two games to one over the Philadelphia Phillies. They will now head to Detriot to take on the Tigers. The Twins are four and a half games back in the American League Central right now behind the Cleveland Guardians and hold on to a wild card currently. The team has announced several moves today.

SS – Diego A. Castillo

The Twins have designated Castillo for assignment today. He has appeared in four games for the Twins this year with six at-bats, with two hits, one double, three runs scored, two walks, and two RBIs.

SS/3B -Jose Miranda

The Twins have sent Miranda on a rehab assignment to Triple-A with the St. Paul Saints. He has played in 76 games for the Twins this year. He has slashed .325/.366/.522 with a .888 OPS on the year. He has 21 doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 43 RBIs, and 35 runs scored this year.

RHP – Brock Stewart

The Twins have activated Stewart from the 60-day injured list today. He has appeared in 14 games this year before his injury. He has a 1.26 ERA, seven holds, allows seven walks, struck out 18, and has a 1.12 WHIP in 14.1 innings of work.

RHP – Ronny Henriquez

The Twins have optioned Henriquez to Triple-A ahead of today’s game. He appeared in three games without factoring in a decision but did record three strikeouts in his 3.1 innings pitched.

RHP – David Festa

The Twins have recalled Festa from Triple-A St. Paul Saints today. Festa is the 91st ranked prospect by ITD. He has started two games for the Twins this year with one win and one loss. He has pitched in a total of three games with an 8.16 ERA over 14.1 innings pitched.

Overview:

While the Twins beat the Phillies five to four today to secure a series victory, the team will look to win the series against the division rival Detriot Tigers next. The return of Miranda is a good one considering how well he had been playing before the injury, He returned to his 2022 form after a dreadful 2023 campaign. The Twins are playing good baseball and with the deadline approaching, it will be interesting to see how the front office attacks the deadline.
