Pablo López

The team placed right-handed pitcher Pablo López on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 4, due to a right shoulder strain. López experienced discomfort during his start against the Athletics on June 3, leading to his early exit after five innings. Initial assessments suggest a lat strain, though further evaluations are pending. The injury is expected to sideline López for 8–12 weeks. It delivers a significant blow to the Twins’ pitching rotation.

David Festa

In a corresponding move, the Twins have recalled right-handed pitcher David Festa from Triple-A St. Paul. Festa, 25, made his MLB debut with the Twins in 2024, appearing in 14 games (13 starts) and posting a 4.90 ERA over 64.1 innings. This season, he has made two starts for the Saints, recording a 5.40 ERA in 8.1 innings. Festa is scheduled to start for the Twins against the Detroit Tigers at Target Field.

Outlook

With López’s extended absence, Festa’s performance will be crucial in maintaining the stability of the Twins’ rotation. The team is hopeful that Festa can build upon his previous MLB experience and contribute effectively during this challenging period. Fans can look forward to seeing how these adjustments impact the team’s performance in upcoming games.
