Minnesota Twins Roster Moves 4/14

Twins Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

After taking the first two games, the Minnesota Twins are preparing for the series finale against the Detroit Tigers this afternoon. Then will head to Baltimore to play against the Orioles for a three-game series. The Twins are in 4th place in the American League Central with a 6-7 record. Before today’s game, they have announced three roster moves.

LHP – Caleb Thielbar

The Twins activated Thielbar from the 15-day injured list. He was in a rehab assignment with the St. Paul Saints. He made two appearances for Saint Paul with a 1-0 record pitching three innings. He gave up two hits, one earned, one home run, one walk, five strikeouts, and a 3.00 ERA.

RHP – Jorge Alcala

Alcala was optioned to Triple-A Saint Paul today by the Twins. He has appeared in six games for the Twins pitching 8.1 innings of work. He has one win and no losses on the season. He struck out nine and gave up three hits and three walks during the season. He hasn’t allowed a run and has a WHIP of 0.72 on the year.

RHP – Simeon Woods Richardson

He returned to Triple-A Saint Paul after making a spot start yesterday for the Twins. He was fantastic, going six innings, finishing with the win and a 1.50 ERA on the day. In those six innings of work, he gave up two hits, one earned run, one walk, and struck out five. Hopefully, he will return to Triple-A and build off the strong performance. The outing proved that the kid has the potential to be a bottom-of-the-rotation asset if the team runs into injury issues this season. It was a very impressive spot start against a difficult Detroit Tigers team.

Wrap Up:

Hopefully, the Twins can build off this momentum from the Tigers series and use it to springboard themselves into the rest of April’s schedule. They need good pitching rolling into Baltimore to face the young Orioles team with plenty of talented bats. I would not be surprised to see Simeon Woods Richardson back with the team in the near future after his strong outing Against Detroit. Thielbar is a lefty the team can use out of the bullpen to help beef up that part of the staff to help maintain leads once the starters leave the game. He is a reliable arm, and the Twins need that right now to climb the Central standings.
