The Minnesota Twins are preparing to face the New York Yankees today in Grape Fruit League action. They have three wins and five losses this spring. They lost yesterday’s game five to two against the Baltimore Orioles. Before today’s match-up they have announced a handful of roster moves mentioned below.

LF – Kyle Fedko

The Twins have assigned Fedko to the roster ahead of today’s game. Last season he played in 76 games in Double-A for the Wichita Wind Surge. He had a batting average of .227 with a slash line of .327/.319/.646 on the year.

RHP – Ezequiel Ventura

The Twins have assigned Ventura to the roster ahead of today’s game. Last year he pitched in 14 games in rookie ball down in Florida for the Twins. He had a two win and two loss record. He had a 6.47 ERA over 32 innings and a 1.69 WHIP.

3B – Rayne Doncon

The Twins have assigned Doncon to the roster before today’s game. He spent last year between Single-A and Single A+. He played in 94 total games with a .254 batting average and had a slash line of .342/.431/.773. In 56 games with the Cedar Rapid Kernels (Single-A+), he chipped in seven of his 11 home runs. He also contributed 34 of his 53 RBIs after getting the call up.

RHP – Juan Mendez

The Twins have assigned Mendez to the roster ahead of today’s game. Last year he pitched in 33 games with Cedar Rapids in Single-A+ ball. He had a one win one loss record in 35.2 innings. He had a 4.79 ERA to go along with 45 strikeouts, and a 1.65 WHIP.

2B – Tanner Schobel

The Twins have assigned Schobel to the roster before today’s game. Last year he spent with the Wichita Wind Surge in Double-A. He played in 122 games with a .211 batting average and a slash line of .301/.338/.639. He had 20 doubles, 10 home runs, 53 RBIs and stole 13 bases.

Overview:

The Twins are off to a slow start this Spring and will hope to improve as March rolls on. Today’s match-up with the Yankees would be a good place to start momentum wise. The AL Central will be a dog fight again this year as one of the more competitive division in baseball. A win today would be a step in the right direction in getting the momentum moving in the right direction!
