The Minnesota Twins have dropped two of their last three games, losing the series to the Nationals this week. They enter this weekend’s series with a 16-22 record. They are currently three and a half games behind the Cleveland Guardians in the AL Central. However, they can close that gap this weekend with a strong series against the divisional rival. Today, before the first pitch of the new series, the Minnesota Twins have activated newly acquired pitcher Yoendrys Gomez.

Yoendrys Gomez

The Minnesota Twins traded for Yoendrys Gomez on May 6th and have activated him today. Gomez came over from the Tampa Bay Rays for cash considerations. He had pitched in nine games for Tampa Bay before the trade. Gomez has a 6.23 ERA and a 1.67 WHIP through 17 and one-third innings pitched. He has struck out 13 batters and allowed a .275 average against this season.

John Klein

The Minnesota Twins have optioned John Klein to Triple-A. Klein with continue his season with the St. Paul Saints. This move came before the series opener with the Guardians. Klein pitched in two games this season for the Twins with a loss and a 7.71 ERA. He has only pitched in two and one-third innings. Klein has a 1.29 WHIP and one strikeout while with the Twins.
