Milwaukee Brewers Roster Moves 4/22

Milwaukee Brewers Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The NL Central leading Milwaukee Brewers are set to square off with the Pittsburgh Pirates for a four game series this week. The Brewers off to a hot start this year with a 14-6 record and will look to take advantage of a sliding Pirates team now at .500 with an 11-11 record and fourth in the division. Before the game today the Brewers announce four roster moves.

LHP – Wade Miley

The Brewers place Miley on the 15-day injured list retroactive to April, 19th with left elbow inflammation. Miley has made two starts this year for the Brewers with one loss on the year. He has pitched only seven innings this year so far. He has a 5.14 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP on the year. He’s walked four batters, given up five hits, four earned runs, and struck out two.

DH – Jake Bauers

The Brewers activated Bauers from the Bereavement list today. He’s appeared in 13 games with six runs scored, seven hits, four doubles, eight RBIs, two walks, one steal, and 15 strikeouts. He’s been slashing .171/.227/.341 with a .568 OPS on the year.

SS – Andruw Monasterio

The Brewers optioned Monasterio to the Triple-A Nashvilles Sounds today. he’s played in four games, had seven at-bats with zero hits, and two walks during his time.

RHP – Tobias Myers

The Brewers recalled Myers from Triple-A Nashville Sounds today. Myers has appeared in four games for the Nashville Sounds with one win, one loss, and one hold on the season. He has worked in 16.2 innings with a 1.62 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP. He has allowed 11 hits, three earned runs, seven walks, and struck out 22.

Wrap Up

Seeing Wade Miley going on the injured list definitely hurts, considering the loss of the veteran leadership in the rotation. He’s up there in age now, so it’s tough to say what to expect from Wade Miley once he returns to the rotation. The bigger concerns I the elbow inflammation and only having two strikeouts so far this season. Tobias Myers is an interesting name to watch as he’s been very effective at Triple-A, perhaps he can come in and add value in the bullpen.
