Aaron Civale – RHP

The Brewers placed Civale on the 15-day injured list with a strained left hamstring today. Civale made one start this season during the opening series against the Yankees. He lost that game, only pitching three innings. Civale allowed four hits, five earned runs, three home runs, walked one, and struck out two. He has a 15.00 ERA this year.

Grant Anderson – RHP

The Brewers have recalled Anderson from Triple-A Nashville Sounds today. Last year, he pitched in 23 games for the Brewers with an 8.10 ERA and one loss. He pitched 26.2 innings of work with a 1.61 WHIP and 29 strikeouts. Anderson has been brought into today’s game against the Royals and struggled. He finished with 2.2 innings, four hits, three earned runs, and one walk. His ERA after today’s outing 10.13.

Summary:

The Brewers’ pitching staff gave up 17 home runs during the Yankees’ series. Today, they sent down Aaron Civale. They called up Grant Anderson, who has not made a start in the pros. The Brewers’ pitching staff is reeling after this series. In game one of the series, they continue to be beaten up by the Kansas City Royals. This pitching staff needs Brandon Woodruff to get healthy quickly. Otherwise, it could be a long season for the folks in Milwaukee.
