The Eastern League had two players really step up this past week, and they’ll take home Player of the Week honors. Portland’s Ronald Rosario was named Hitter of the Week, while Chesapeake’s Luis De Leon was named Pitcher of the Week.

Rosario and his Portland Sea Dogs invaded New Hampshire to take on the Fisher Cats. Rosario played in four of the six games; he had a hit in all four games he played in. He hit .500 in the series with four home runs, nine RBI, four runs scored, and a stolen base. Portland split their series with the Fisher Cats. This season in 43 games at Double-A, he’s hitting .278 with a .786 OPS. He has six doubles, a triple, seven home runs, 26 RBI, 22 runs scored, and two stolen bases.
De Leon and the Baysox were on the road facing the Akron RubberDucks this past week. They also split their series. De Leon got the ball on Saturday night. He got the win, going eight scoreless innings, allowing two hits. He walked one and struck out five as Chesapeake won the game 9-0. This season in 17 starts, De Leon is 4-6 with a 4.76 ERA, a 1.40 WHIP, and 86 strikeouts in 70 innings.
