Andrew Hoffmann, 24, earns his first call-up to the big leagues after showing solid command and consistency at the minor league level. The Royals added him to both the 40-man and active rosters, giving the right-hander a chance to make his MLB debut. In Triple-A Omaha, Hoffmann posted a 3.89 ERA with 42 strikeouts over 41.2 innings, showcasing a strong fastball-slider mix that caught the attention of the Royals’ front office.
“We’re excited to see what Andrew can do at this level,” said Royals manager Matt Quatraro. “He’s earned this opportunity, and we think he can give us valuable innings out of the bullpen.”
To make room for Hoffmann, the Royals optioned Evan Sisk back to Omaha. Sisk made a handful of appearances during his stint with the big-league club but struggled with command in high-leverage situations. The Royals hope regular innings in Triple-A will help him regain his form.
Sisk has continued to develop as a situational lefty, and the organization still views him as a valuable depth piece moving forward. In Omaha, he’ll focus on refining his control and staying ready for another call-up.
