The Kansas City Royals play a doubleheader today against the Colorado Rockies. Last night’s game was postponed due to inclement weather. The Royals won 4-3 on Tuesday night to start the series. Today in game one, Cole Ragans will take the ball for game one, going up against German Marquez. The makeup game will see Michael Lorenzen face off against Chase Dollander for the Rockies. Due to today being a doubleheader, the roster expands to 27. The 27th man for the Royals is going to be right-handed pitcher Johnathan Bowlan. Bowlan, this season at Triple-A Omaha, has made eight appearances, going 1-0 with two saves, a 3.00 ERA, a 1.25 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts in 12 innings.

Jonathan Bowlan

The Royals drafted Johnathan Bowlan in the second round of the 2018 MLB Draft. He’s spent seven seasons in the minor leagues. Bowlan made 123 appearances, with 90 of those coming as starts. He went 35-28 with a 4.65 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, and 475 strikeouts in 478.1 innings. Last season, he made one start for the Royals. Bowlan suffered the loss, going 2.2 innings, giving up four runs on six hits. He walked three and struck out three. He appeared in 35 games for Omaha, with 16 of those coming as starts. Bowlan posted a 12-4 record, a 4.67 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, and 98 strikeouts in 104 innings. Bowlan, in his college career at Memphis, made 47 appearances with 35 of those coming as starts, going 8-20 with a 3.90 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP, and 211 strikeouts in 224 innings.
