The 2025 All-Star break has arrived, and the Kansas City Royals sit in third place in the American League Central at 47-50. They are 4.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot in the American League as well. Today, the Royals placed right-handed pitcher Michael Lorenzen on the injured list with a left oblique strain. It is retroactive to July 11th, which means he’ll be able to return on July 26th. The Royals’ starting rotation is already down left-handed pitcher Cole Ragans, who is out with a rotator cuff strain, and right-handed pitcher Alec Marsh, who is dealing with shoulder impingement.

The Royals’ current starting rotation includes Kris Bubic, Seth Lugo, Michael Wacha, and Noah Cameron when they return from the break. The 40-man roster currently includes right-handed pitchers Kyle Wright and Luinder Avila, but both are dealing with injuries. Rich Hill, Thomas Hatch, and recently signed Dallas Keuchel are potential options following the break, or Kansas City could go with a bullpen game.
