The Detroit Tigers planned on being ambitious in their search for a new voice for Tigers baseball in 2024 and beyond. They proved to be true to their word after announcing they have hired beloved play-by-play broadcaster Jason Benetti to be in the booth for the Tigers for multiple years.
Benetti, who has worked with FOX Sports, ESPN, and NBC, has covered football, hockey, basketball, lacrosse, and baseball. He spent the last eight years with the Chicago White Sox organization and covered Chicago Bulls games during his time with NBC Sports Chicago.
Jason Benetti is replacing Matt Shepard after five seasons with the Tigers organization. Bally Sports will not employ Benetti; the Tigers will employ him.
Dan Dickerson Will Appear in the TV Booth in 2024

Dan Dickerson has been a cherished member of the Tigers for nearly 24 years. He made his Tigers debut in 2000, working alongside the legendary Ernie Harwell. We haven’t seen much of Dan Dickerson on TV, as he has been the radio voice of the Tigers for decades. However, this season, we will occasionally see Dickerson in the TV Booth when Jason Benetti tends to his national TV obligations.
Benetti will call a minimum of 127 games for the Tigers in the 2024 season. It’s unclear who will step in for Dickerson on the radio when he’s in the TV booth. Still, the favorite to get that opportunity is Erie SeaWolves’ play-by-play broadcaster Greg Gania, who has filled in for Dan Dickerson in the past.
