It’s Time for the Kansas City Royals to Call Up Top Prospect

The Royals recently promoted their top prospect, Jac Caglianone, to Triple-A Omaha. In seven games with the Storm Chasers, he’s hitting .290 with a 1.077 OPS. Caglianone has five home runs, ten RBI, five runs scored, and a walk. In 38 games at Double-A, he hit .322 with a .946 OPS. He had eight doubles, nine home runs, 43 RBI, 32 runs scored, 19 walks, and two stolen bases.

Caglianone can provide a key bat to the Royals lineup. He most likely fits best in the outfield. Vinnie Pasquantino and Salvador Perez are locked into first base. In seven Triple-A games, he’s played once as a designated hitter. He also played once in left field. Additionally, Caglianone appeared twice in right field and three times at first base. He can play any position in the field for the Royals to keep his bat in the lineup. Additionally, he can provide power in the five or six spot in the lineup.

The Royals drafted Caglianone sixth overall in last summer’s draft. He played in 29 games at High-A he hit .241 with a .690 OPS. Caglianone had nine doubles, a triple, two home runs, 14 RBI, 13 runs scored, two stolen bases, and seven walks. In his final season at Florida before the draft, Caglianone hit .419 with a 1.419 OPS. He had eight doubles, 35 home runs, 72 RBI, 83 runs scored, four stolen bases, and 58 walks. On the mound in 16 starts, he went 5-2 with a 4.76 ERA, a 1.52 WHIP, and 83 strikeouts in 73.2 innings.
