Gleyber Torres Leaves Game Against Dodgers

The Detroit Tigers suffered an 8-5 loss to the Los Angels Dodgers last night. The Tigers went up 5-3 in the top of the tenth. In the bottom half the Dodgers put up five runs including a walkoff three run home run from Mookie Betts. The Tigers had an early 2-0 lead in the game on home runs from Dillon Dingler and Gleyber Torres. On Torres’ home run, he grimaced to his side as he rounded the bases. He played three more innings. Torres was lifted in the bottom of the sixth. Javier Baez took over. Baez went in at third base moving Zach McKinstry over to second base. Torres, is 3-7 he has a home run, an RBI, and two runs scored. He signed a one-year, $15 million contract on December 27th

Torres turned 28 years old in December and has spent his first seven big league seasons with the New York Yankees posting a slash line of .265/.334/.441 with a .774 OPS; he has 154 doubles, four triples, 138 home runs, 441 RBI, 460 runs scored, 53 stolen bases, and 333 walks. This past season he posted a slash line of .257/.330/.378 with a .709 OPS; he hit 27 doubles, and 15 home runs, drove in 63 runs, scored 80 runs, stole four bases, and walked 65 times. He had a great ALCS this past season hitting .364 with a .809 OPS; he had a double, two RBI, and five runs scored. He finished third in Rookie of the Year voting in 2018 and is a two-time All-Star.
