The Yankees opened the scoring in the second after Giancarlo Stanton hit a solo home run way over the Green Monster. He also had a two-RBI double in the sixth. The Yankees got the fourth run on an RBI double from Randal Grichuk in the eighth inning.
Luis Gil earned the win for the Yankees. The righty allowed two hits and zero runs over six and one-third innings, striking out two and walking three. Connelly Early took the loss for Boston. The young southpaw went five and one-third innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out four and walking three.
Player of the Game
Giancarlo Stanton tortured the Red Sox, going 2-4 with three RBI and a run scored. He had a double and a home run in the game. He almost had his third hit, but Ceddanne Rafaela made a great play in center field to rob the Yankees slugger.
