Eastern League 2024 All-Star Team Announced

The awards for the 2024 Eastern League season have been released and all three major award winners are ranked in the Top 100 by ITD as well as seven prospects who were named All-Stars so without further ado who was named?

Awards

MVP – Kristian Campbell

Campbell made a quick jump up to Double-A and didn’t disappoint, he was named an All-Star and you can see his stat below.

Pitcher of the Year – Brandon Sproat

Sproat was easily the best pitcher to watch in the Eastern League this season, you can see his stats listed below from the season as he was named an All-Star.

Top MLB Prospect – Samuel Basallo

Basallo played in 106 games with a slash line of .289/.355/.465 with a .820 OPS; he had 22 doubles, 16 home runs, 55 RBI, 57 runs scored, 41 walks, and nine stolen bases. He finished fourth in batting average, eighth in OPS, tied for 12th in doubles, tied for eighth in home runs, tied for 19th in RBI, and tied for 21st in runs scored.

2024 All-Star Team

C – Agustin Ramirez – Somerset Patriots – New York Yankees

Ramirez would be traded at the trade deadline but during his time at Somerset he played in 58 games with a slash line of .289/.372/.570 with a .942 OPS; he had 14 doubles, a triple, 16 home runs, 49 RBI, 46 runs scored, 28 walks, and 13 stolen bases.  

1B – Carson Taylor – Reading Fightin Phils – Philadelphia Phillies

Taylor played in 109 games at Reading with a slash line of .277/.389/.465 with a .854 OPS; he had 16 doubles, three triples, 16 home runs, 75 RBI, 53 runs scored, 67 walks, and five stolen bases. He finished ninth in batting average, second in OPS, tied for eighth in home runs, third in RBI, and tied for second in walks.

2B – Hao-Yu Lee – Erie Seawolves – Detroit Tigers

Lee played in 87 games this season posting a slash line of .298/.363/.488 with a .851 OPS; he had 19 doubles, five triples, 12 home runs, 56 RBI, 55 runs scored, 33 walks, and 16 stolen bases. He finished tied for first in batting average, fourth in OPS, tied for sixth in triples, and tied for 17th in RBI.

3B – Gage Workman – Erie Seawolves – Detroit Tigers

Workman in 126 games had a slash line of .280/.366/.476 with a .842 OPS; he had 29 doubles, six triples, 18 home runs, 89 RBI, 85 runs scored, 65 walks, and 30 stolen bases. He finished seventh in average, sixth in OPS, third in doubles, tied for second in triples, tied for third in home runs, first in RBI, second in runs scored, fourth in walks, and sixth in stolen bases.

SS – Marcelo Mayer – Portland Sea Dogs – Boston Red Sox

Mayer this season at Portland played in 77 games posting a slash line of .307/.362/.465 with a .827 OPS; he had 28 doubles, eight home runs, 38 RBI, 60 runs scored, 30 walks, and 13 stolen bases. He finished fourth in the league in doubles and tied for 18th in runs scored.

OF – Roman Anthony – Portland Sea Dogs – Boston Red Sox

Anthony played in 84 games at Double-A with a slash line of .269/.367/.489 with a .856 OPS; he had 20 doubles, three triples, 15 home runs, 45 RBI, 60 runs scored, 48 walks, and 16 stolen bases. He finished 14th in batting average, first in OPS, 13th in home runs, and tied for 18th in runs scored.

OF – Spencer Jones – Somerset Patriots – New York Yankees

Jones played in 122 games with a slash line of .259/.336/.452 with a .788 OPS; he had 30 doubles, six triples, 17 home runs, 78 RBI, 73 runs scored, 54 walks, and 25 stolen bases. He finished tied for 21st in batting average, tenth in OPS, tied for first in doubles, tied for second in doubles, tied for seventh in home runs, second in RBI, third in runs scored, tied for 11th in runs scored, and tied for ninth in stolen bases.

OF – Gabriel Rincones Jr. – Reading Fightin Phils – Philadelphia Phillies

Rincones played in 59 games posting a slash line of .263/.357/.487 with a .844 OPS; he had 15 doubles, a triple, 11 home runs, 29 RBI, 35 runs scored, 30 walks, and 20 stolen bases. He finished tied for 15th in stolen bases.

DH – Kyle Teel – Portland Sea Dogs – Boston Red Sox

Teel played in 84 games with Portland posting a slash line of .298/.390/.462 with a .852 OPS; he had 20 doubles, 11 home runs, 60 RBI, 65 runs scored, 48 walks, and nine stolen bases. He finished first in the league in batting average, third in OPS, ninth in RBI, and seventh in runs scored.

UTL – Kristian Campbell – Portland Sea Dogs – Boston Red Sox

Campbell rose through the ranks and didn’t stay long in Portland only playing in 56 games he had a slash line of .362/.463/.582 with a 1.045 OPS; he had 17 doubles, three triples, eight home runs, 35 RBI, 48 runs scored, 35 walks, and 17 stolen bases. He would have finished first in average, first in OPS, and 21st in stolen bases despite playing in less than half of the games than anyone else.

RHP – Brandon Sproat – Binghamton Rumble Ponies – New York Mets

Sproat made 11 starts going 4-1 with a 2.45 ERA, a 0.87 WHIP, and 77 strikeouts in 62.1 innings.

RHP – Jackson Jobe – Erie Seawolves – Detroit Tigers

Jobe made 16 starts going 4-2 with a 1.95 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, and 81 strikeouts in 73.2 innings.

RHP – Brad Lord – Harrisburg Senators – Washington Nationals

Lord made 12 starts going 8-1 with a 1.40 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP, and 75 strikeouts in 70.2 innings. He finished tied for ninth in wins.

LHP – Parker Messick – Akron RubberDucks – Cleveland Guardians

Messick made 14 starts going 4-1 with a 2.06 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, and 85 strikeouts in 65.2 innings.

RP – Eric Pardinho – New Hampshire Fisher Cats – Toronto Blue Jays

Pardinho made 21 appearances posting a 1.01 ERA, a 0.90 WHIP, and 37 strikeouts in 26.2 innings.

RP – Andrew Walter – Akron RubberDucks – Cleveland Guardians

Walter made 17 appearances going 3-0 with a 1.35 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP, and 38 strikeouts in 20 innings.

Manager – Bobby Meacham – Hartford Yard Goats – Colorado Rockies

Meacham led the Yard Goats to a 38-30 first-half record and then they were 38-30 once again in the second half for an overall record of 76-60 this season which was the second-best record in their division and the fourth-best record in the Eastern League, they finished with +55 run differential.
