The Detroit Tigers enter the middle game of their series against the Cleveland Guardians tied for first in the American League Central. The Tigers are hanging on to a playoff spot by a thread after losing seven straight games. They’re 1-9 in their last ten games, averaging 2.4 runs per game while allowing 5.5 runs per game. Ahead of today’s game, they recalled utility man Justyn-Henry Malloy from Triple-A Toledo and optioned infielder Jace Jung to Triple-A Toledo.

Justyn-Henry Malloy

Malloy, in 49 games with Detroit this season, hit .214 with a .643 OPS. He had five doubles, a home run, 17 RBI, 14 runs scored, and 20 walks. In 72 games at Toledo, he hit .322 with a .955 OPS. Justyn-Henry Malloy had 20 doubles, nine home runs, 53 RBI, 49 runs scored, six stolen bases, and 57 walks.

Jace Jung

Jung has played in 21 games for Detroit this season, and he hit .106 with a .343 OPS. He had three RBI, eight runs scored, and seven walks. In his recent call-up, he went 0-2. In 110 games at Triple-A Toledo, he hit .252 with a .816 OPS. Jung had 27 doubles, a triple, 17 home runs, 74 RBI, 69 runs scored, four stolen bases, and 78 walks.
