The Detroit Tigers will wrap up their four-game series with the Chicago White Sox and with a win would complete a four-game sweep as well as returning to .500 for the first time since June 5th. The Tigers were nine games below .500 on July 4th. They currently are tied with the eighth-best record since the trade deadline going 13-9. In the last two weeks though they have the best record in baseball going 9-3, posting the third-best ERA with 2.75, second-best FIP with 3.05, and fourth-best WHIP with a 1.05. At the plate, they have the third-best batting average with a .271, the third-best wRC+ with a 118, and an average 5.4 runs per game in this stretch. Today they will have called up Ty Madden from Triple-A Toledo to make his big-league debut against the White Sox. This is likely just a spot start as Casey Mize and Reese Olson are expected back soon, Mize on Friday and Olson is starting his rehab. The move also makes sense as the Tigers could use an arm and they would have to protect him in the Rule 5 draft.
