The Detroit Tigers are looking for a series win over the Chicago Cubs after they dropped the first game of the series and won last night in the middle game of the series 8-2. The top of the order in Parker Meadows, Riley Greene, Kerry Carpenter, and Colt Keith combined to go 8-19 with six RBI as Carpenter hit a three-run home run and Greene hit a two-run home run and drove in the third run on an RBI single. The bottom of the order combined to go 2-18 with one of those being a two-run home run from Trey Sweeney the first of his career. Today before the game the Tigers recalled Sean Guenther as they placed Alex Faedo on the paternity list. 

LHP – Sean Guenther

Guenther appeared in one game in his previous stint going 1.1 innings giving up one run on one hit; he failed to record a strikeout and didn’t issue a walk. At Toledo this season in 39 appearances he is 4-4 with a 3.31 ERA, a 1.28 WHIP, a 2.6 BB/9, and a 9.1 K/9 in 51.2 innings 

RHP – Alex Faedo

Faedo has appeared in 37 games with the Tigers with six of those coming as starts, he is 5-3 with a 3.61 ERA, a 4.91 FIP, a 1.34 WHIP, a 4.4 BB/9, and an 8.6 K/9 in 57.1 innings. His last four appearances have come as starts as he a postseason a 1.69 ERA, a 2.25 WHIP, and six strikeouts in 5.1 innings.
