Detroit Tigers Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Detroit Tigers will begin a three-game series tonight against the New York Yankees. The Tigers are coming off a series sweep over the Seattle Mariners in which they outscored them 20-4 in the three games. They currently sit 13.5 games out of first place in the American League Central and are 7.5 games back of the third and final Wild Card spot. Yesterday news hit of the Tigers calling up two prospects the first being infield Jace Jung and the other a prospect they acquired in the trade of Jack Flaherty in shortstop Trey Sweeney. For both players to be on the roster the Tigers have designated Gio Urshela for assignment as well as Easton Lucas. They also optioned Akil Baddoo to Triple-A Toledo.

INF – Gio Urshela

Urshela signed a one-year deal with the Tigers this past offseason, in 92 games with the squad he’s hit .243 with a .619 OPS; he had ten doubles, one triple, five home runs, 37 RBI, 25 runs scored, and 19 walks. 

LHP – Easton Lucas

Lucas for the Tigers has appeared in three games going 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA, a 4.68 FIP, a 1.50 WHIP, a 5.4 BB/9, and a 5.4 K/9 in  3.1 innings.

OF – Akil Baddoo

Baddoo was the hero on Wednesday with the walk-off winner. This season in 31 games in Detroit he hit .137 with a .521 OPS; he had two doubles, two triples, two home runs, five RBI, seven runs scored, one stolen base, and eight walks.
