Detroit Tigers Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Detroit Tigers will begin a three-game series tonight against the Seattle Mariners. The Tigers will have their ace Tarik Skubal on the mound facing the Mariners. Ahead of tonight’s game, they made the following roster moves as they have reinstated DH Kerry Carpenter from the 60-day injured list. To make room on the roster for him they have optioned Ryan Vilade down to Triple-A Toledo. To make room on the 40-man roster for Carpenter the Tigers have recalled Brendan White and transferred him to the 60-day injured list. 

OF – Kerry Carpenter

Carpenter this season has appeared in 50 games hitting .283 with a .914 OPS; he has ten doubles, four triples, eight home runs, 29 RBI, 21 runs scored, and 11 walks. In his rehab stint, he appeared in four games going 3-14 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored, and a walk. 

INF/OF – Ryan Vilade 

Vilade has played in 17 games this season with the Tigers hitting .178 with a .453 OPS; he has one home run, five RBI, five runs scored, and two walks. At Toledo this season he is hitting .283 with a .825 OPS; he had 16 doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 46 RBI, 34 runs scored, 13 stolen bases, and 28 walks.

RHP – Brendan White 

White is out for the season dealing with elbow issues. He’s pitched at four levels for the Tigers system making eight appearances with one of those coming as a start. He is 1-0 with a 7.36 ERA, a 1.91 WHIP, a 13.5 BB/9, and a 7.4 K/9 in 7.1 innings.
