The Detroit Tigers are coming off a series against the Minnesota Twins in which they dropped two out of three taking the middle game which just so happened to be started by Tarik Skubal who picked up his 12th win going seven innings giving up two runs on five hits; he walked two and struck out right. Today they will start a short two-game series against the Cleveland Guardians to wrap up their season series; the Tigers are 6-5 against the Guardians and have outscored them 56-37 in those 11 games. Yesterday they traded catcher Carson Kelly to the Texas Rangers for two prospects which opened up a roster spot and that’ll be the Tigers’ seventh-ranked prospect by ITD Dillon Dingler who is being called up from Triple-A Toledo. The Tigers earlier today also acquired Ricky Vanasco from the Los Angeles Dodgers for cash considerations. The other moves the Tigers have done today include, placing Javier Baez on the medical emergency/bereavement list, recalling Ryan Kreidler, optioning Easton Lucas to Toledo, and selecting Bryan Sammons from Triple-A Toledo.

Tigers Roster Moves By The Numbers

C – Dillon Dingler

Dingle was drafted in the second round of the 2020 MLB Draft. He’s spent four seasons in the Tigers system playing in 352 games hitting .257 with a .803 OPS; he has 69 doubles, eight triples, 59 home runs, 214 RBI, 208 runs scored, 13 stolen bases, and 139 walks. This season at Toledo in 71 games he’s hitting .308 with a .938 OPS; he has 15 doubles, 17 home runs, 52 RBI, 44 runs scored, five stolen bases, and 30 walks. He took home Player of the Week honors last week for the International League as he went 9-15 with two doubles, four home runs, eight RBI, six runs scored, and five walks.

RHP – Ricky Vanasco

Vanasco was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 15th round of the 2017 MLB Draft. In June of 2023, he was traded to the Dodgers. In the minor for his career, he’s appeared in 103 games with 40 of those coming as starts going 10-16 with a 3.46 ERA, a 1.40 WHIP, a 5.1 BB/9, and an 11.9 K/9 in 231.1 innings. At Triple-A this season he’s appeared in 24 games going 0-2 with a 3.47 ERA, a 1.71 WHIP, a 8.1 BB/9, and a 10.4 K/9 in 23.1 innings. With the Dodgers, he’s appeared in two games posting a 13.50 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, a 0.0 BB/9, and a 4.5 K/9 in two innings.

SS – Javier Baez

Baez since returning from the injured list has gone 7-44 with a double, three home runs, seven RBI, five runs scored, and two walks. He had recently been hot going 3-14 in his last four games with three home runs, seven RBI, and three runs scored. In 67 games this season he is hitting .178 with a .484 OPS; he has ten doubles, four home runs, 32 RBI, 20 runs scored, six stolen bases, and eight walks.

SS – Ryan Kreidler

Kriedler is back with Detroit where in 19 games he is hitting .125 with a .405 OPS; he has a home run, two RBI, six runs scored, two stolen bases, and four walks. At Toledo in 24 games he’s hitting .193 with a .615 OPS; he has one double, three home runs, 11 RBI, five runs scored, three stolen bases, and 11 walks.

LHP – Easton Lucas

Lucas with Detroit appeared in three games going 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, a 5.4 BB/9, and a 5.4 K/9 in 3.1 innings. At Toledo, he’s appeared in 16 games going 1-1 with a 4.38 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP, a 4.4 BB/9, and an 11.7 K/9 in 24.2 innings.

LHP – Bryan Sammons

Sammons at Triple-A Toledo has made 17 starts going 6-5 with a 4.18 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP, a 3.6 BB/9, and an 8.4 K/9 in 84 innings.
