Detroit Tigers Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Detroit Tigers play game one of their series against the Washington Nationals. They will play game two as well. Last night’s game was rained out. The Tigers are placing right-handed pitcher Sawyer Gipson-Long on the injured list with neck stiffness. They are recalling left-handed pitcher Bailey Horn from Triple-A Toledo as well as right-handed pitcher Tyler Owens. One of those two will be the 27th roster spot for today’s game.

Sawyer Gipson-Long

Gipson-Long this season is 0-1 in five games, with two of those coming as starts. He posts a 4.70 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, and has 18 strikeouts in 23 innings. In five starts between three levels of the minors, Sawyer Gipson-Long posts a 2.20 ERA, a 0.98 WHIP, and 16 strikeouts in 16.1 innings.

Bailey Horn

Horn in one game with the Tigers, he went 1.1 shutout innings, giving up one run; he didn’t issue a walk and struck out two. In 19 games, with five of those coming as starts across Lakeland and Toledo, he went 1-1 with a 4.67 ERA, a 1.59 WHIP, and 34 strikeouts in 27 innings.

Tyler Owens

Owens played in two games with the Tigers. He went two shutout innings and allowed one hit. He didn’t issue a walk and struck out one. In 26 games at Toledo, he went 1-1 with a 5.46 ERA, a 1.68 WHIP, and 25 strikeouts in 28 innings.
