Today, the Detroit Tigers play their first game against the Colorado Rockies. Yesterday was supposed to be game one, but it was postponed due to the weather. Tomorrow will be a doubleheader. Tonight’s game will have Jackson Jobe pitching for Detroit and Chase Dollander for the Rockies. Ahead of tonight’s game against the Rockies, the Tigers activated catcher Tomas Nido. Nido is the Tigers’ backup catcher with Jake Rogers currently out, he is backing up Dillon Dingler. Nido, in seven games this season, is hitting .360 with a .745 OPS. He has two RBI and three runs scored. In six games with Triple-A Toledo this season, he’s hitting .160 with a .542 OPS. He has a double, a home run, four RBI, two runs scored, and two walks.

Tomas Nido

Nido is in his ninth big league season, having played in 330 career games, hitting .214 with a .559 OPS. He has 34 doubles, a triple, 17 home runs, 88 RBI, 92 runs scored, a stolen base, and 39 walks. In 2024, he spent time with the New York Mets and Chicago Cubs last season, playing in 49 games, hitting .192 with a .534 OPS. He had four doubles, four home runs, 12 RBI, 14 runs scored, and five walks.
