The Detroit Tigers were supposed to start a short two-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates last night but due to rain that game has been bumped to today and will be a part of a doubleheader. The Tigers are coming off a series win over the Blue Jays while the Pirates are coming off a series win over the Braves. The first game today will feature Tarik Skubal taking on breakout Pirates pitcher Jared Jones. In the second game, the Tigers were supposed to have Jack Flaherty taking the ball but with it being a doubleheader they have decided to go a different way, that starter hasn’t been named yet but it’s likely it could be the Tigers tenth ranked prospect by ITD RHP Keider Montero as he has been called up as the 27th roster spot for the doubleheader today, normally this season it has been Matt Manning but not this time. Montero will take on the other Pirates phenom Paul Skenes. Montero was supposed to start for Triple-A Toledo today so the call-up makes sense and will likely push Flaherty to pitch the first game of the series against the Red Sox tomorrow. On top of that, it was announced this morning that Kerry Carpenter wasn’t in the lineup and Akil Baddoo had a locker.
