The Detroit Tigers wrap up their series today against the Houston Astros coming off an 8-2 bounce-back win in the middle game after dropping the opener Friday night. Tarik Skubal was brilliant again going 6.1 innings giving up two runs on seven hits; he walked two and struck out seven. Over the last 24 hours, the Tigers have made the following moves. Kenta Maeda was placed on the 15-day injured list with a viral illness the move is retroactive to May 8th. To take his spot in the rotation the Tigers have called up Matt Manning from Triple-A Toledo and on top of that they have called up Akil Baddoo.

Tigers Moves By The Numbers

Kenta Maeda

Maeda is in the first year of his two-year deal with the Tigers which he signed on November 28, 2023. He has struggled to this point making seven starts going 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA, a 6.55 FIP, a 1.40 WHIP, and 23 strikeouts in 30.2 innings. In his last start, he faced the Guardians going only two innings giving up seven runs on five hits; he walked three and struck out one. 

Matt Manning

Manning this season has made three starts for the Tigers all coming in the second game of doubleheaders. He is 0-1 with a 4.24 ERA, a 4.86 FIP, a 1.17 WHIP, and 17 strikeouts in 17 innings. With Triple-A Toledo this season he had made four appearances with three coming as starts going 1-0 with a 3.79 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP, and 24 strikeouts in 19 innings. 

Akil Baddoo

Baddoo a guy the Tigers took in the Rule 5 draft in 2020 has spent three seasons with the Tigers and this season he’s been in Triple-A slashing .257/.366/.478 with an .844 OPS; he has five doubles, four triples, four home runs, 16 RBI, 21 runs scored, 11 stolen bases, and 19 walks. In his time with Detroit, he has played in 309 games slashing .233/.314/.378 with a .692 OPS; he has 36 doubles, ten triples, 26 home runs, 98 RBI, 130 runs scored, 41 stolen bases, and 111 walks.
