Detroit Tigers Pitcher Named Minor League Pitcher of the Week

Detroit Tigers

The Detroit Tigers’ Triple-A affiliate, the Toledo Mud Hens, have started off the season going 4-11. Not an ideal start to the 2025 campaign. They went 2-4 last week against the Iowa Cubs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, and were outscored 26-12. They allowed an average of 4.3 runs per game while only scoring two runs per game. The big takeaway is pitcher Keider Montero, who picked up a win this week in his lone start, going 5.2 shutout innings; he didn’t allow a hit. He didn’t issue a walk and struck out six. That performance gave him Player of the Week honors in the International League. Montero is 1-1 with a 2.79 ERA, a 0.72 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in 9.2 innings this season. Toledo will face the Indianapolis Indians this week, with that series starting tomorrow.
