Detroit Tigers Down on the Farm July Check-In

The Detroit Tigers Triple-A affiliate in Toledo finished July going 10-13 and were outscored 145-126. Double-A Erie went 13-10 in July and outscored their opponents 104-97. High-A West Michigan went 10-12 and they scored 84 runs but also gave up 84 runs over the 22 games. Single-A Lakeland finished the month 13-9 and were outscored by their opponents 108-85.

Detroit Tigers Top 10 Prospects Check-In

OF – Max Clark – West Michigan Whitecaps

Clark in July received a promotion to High-A. Between the two levels in July he hit .386 with a .1.106 OPS; he had eight doubles, one triple, three home runs, 17 RBI, 16 runs scored, eight walks, and three stolen bases. At High-A in seven games he’s hitting .355 with a .910 OPS; he has three doubles, one triple, five RBI, seven runs scored, and two walks.

RHP – Jackson Jobe – Erie SeaWolves

Jobe is July returned to Erie making four starts going 2-0 with a 0.83 ERA, a 0.97 WHIP, and 26 strikeouts in 21.2 innings; he also was part of a combined no-hitter for the SeaWolves. This season at Erie he’s made nine starts going 2-1 with a 1.41 ERA, a 0.99 WHIP, and 50 strikeouts in 38.1 innings.

2B – Jace Jung – Toledo Mud Hens

Jung in July .222 with a .779 OPS; he had three doubles, four home runs, 15 RBI, 13 runs scored, 14 walks, and one stolen base. This season he is hitting .258 with a .863 OPS; he has 15 home runs, 56 RBI, 46 runs scored, and two stolen bases.

INF – Kevin McGonigle – West Michigan Whitecaps

McGonigle like Clark got promoted to High-A. Between Single-A and High-A in July he hit .246 with a .696 OPS; he had three doubles, one home run, 11 RBI, ten runs scored, 13 walks, and five stolen bases. At High-A he’s hitting .167 with a .521 OPS; he has a double, four RBI, three runs scored, and six walks.

RHP – Wilmer Flores – Toledo Mud Hens

Flores is on the 60-day injured list. This season in 13 appearances he is 2-2 with a 6.04 ERA, a 1.84 WHIP, and 19 strikeouts in 22.1 innings.

RHP – Ty Madden – Toledo Mud Hens

Madden in July made four starts going 1-1 with a 10.00 ERA, a 2.00 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts in 18 innings. This season in 18 starts he is 2-4 with a 7.43 ERA, a 1.67 WHIP, and 87 strikeouts in 72.2 innings.

C – Dillon Dingler – Detroit Tigers

Dingler got the call to make his big league debut, but before he hit .359 with four doubles, seven home runs, 16 RBI, ten runs scored, and 12 walks. In his debut, he went 1-3 with a double, an RBI, and a walk. This season at Toledo he is hitting .308 with a .938 OPS; he had 17 doubles, 52 RBI, 44 runs scored, and five stolen bases.

RHP – Keider Montero – Detroit Tigers

Montero has spent July with the Tigers making five starts going 1-2 with a 5.46 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts in 28 innings. With Detroit, he’s appeared in seven games with six of those coming as starts going 1-4 with a 6.38 ERA, a 1.45 WHIP, and 31 strikeouts in 36.2 innings. In the minors he made 13 starts going 1-4 with a 5.03 ERA, a 1.70 WHIP, and 54 strikeouts in 48.1 innings.

LHP – Brant Hurter – Toledo Mud Hens

Hurter in July made four starts going 1-1 with an 8.10 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and eight strikeouts in 16.2 innings. This season in 19 appearances with 18 of those coming as starts he is 2-4 with a 5.80 ERA, a 1.47 WHIP, and 70 strikeouts in 71.1 innings.

RHP – Troy Melton – Erie SeaWolves

Melton made four starts in July going 2-0 with a 4.15 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP, and 26 strikeouts in 21.2 innings. This season he’s made 18 starts going 6-5 with a 4.29 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP, and 90 strikeouts in 79.2 innings.

Month Ahead:

Toledo Mud Hens (48-55)

In August the Tigers Triple-A affiliate will take on the Indianapolis Indians the Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp the Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, the Charlotte Knights the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, the Iowa Cubs the affiliate of the Chicago Cubs and play five of their six games against the Worcester Red Sox, the affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.  

Erie SeaWolves (56-40)

In August the Tigers Double-A affiliate will take on the Portland Sea Dogs the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, the Akron RubberDucks the affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians, the Bowie Baysox the affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles and play five of their six games against the Richmond Flying Squirrels the Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.

West Michigan Whitecaps (48-49)

In August the Tigers High-A affiliate will take on the Fort Wayne TinCaps the High-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, the Beloit Sky Carp the High-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, the Lansing Lugnuts the High-A affiliate of the Oakland A’s, the Lake County Captains the affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians and play five of their six games against the Dayton Dragons the High-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.

Lakeland Flying Tigers (60-36)

In August the Tigers Single-A affiliate will take on the Tampa Tarpons the Single-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, the Clearwater Threshers the Single-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels the Single-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, the Bradenton Marauders the affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates and play five the Toronto Blue Jays Single-A affiliate the Dunedin Blue Jays.
