Detroit Tigers Arizona Fall League Prospects Check-In

The Detroit Tigers season wrapped up on Saturday with a tough loss to the Cleveland Guardians in game five of the ALDS. The Tigers currently have eight prospects taking part in the Arizona Fall League playing with the Scottsdale Scorpions: catcher/first baseman Thayron Liranzo, catcher/first baseman Josue Briceño, shortstop Peyton Graham, RHPs Eric Silva, Rayner Castillo, Wilmer Flores, CJ Weins, and LHP Jake Miller. The Scorpions are 2-4 to this point of the season.

Liranzo has been red hot to start hitting .417 with a 1.333 OPS; he has two doubles, a home run, three RBI, two runs scored, and two walks. His counterpart Josue Briceño through five games is hitting .350 with a 1.309 OPS; he has a triple, three home runs, six RBI, six runs scored, and two walks. Shortstop Peyton Graham has struggled hitting .167 with a .452 OPS; he has walked once.

The pitchers there have struggled combing to post an 11.92 ERA, a 2.29 WHIP, and nine strikeouts in 11.1 innings. Eric Silva has pitched three innings giving up five runs four earned on six hits; he’s walked two and struck out one. Rayner Castillo has given up 12 runs, eight earned on eight hits; he’s walked five and struck out three in four innings. Wilmer Flores has yet to pitch. CJ Weins has gone 1.2 innings giving up one run on a hit; he walked one and struck out two. Finally, Jake Millers has gone 2.2 innings giving up two runs on two hits; he’s walked one and struck out three.
