The College Baseball season is in full force and there is only one undefeated remaining and that is Florida State. The top ten entering the weekend were Arkansas, Oregon State, Vanderbilt, Clemson, LSU, Florida, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Duke, and East Carolina. Friday night was a wild one so let’s see what happened.
Friday Night Notes
Ryan Johnson
Johnson last night got the ball for Dallas Baptist against Sam Houston and he recorded 15 strikeouts, giving up one run on four hits, and walked one in nine innings. Dallas Baptist came out on top 3-1. This season Johnson has made six starts and he is 4-0 with a 1.93 ERA, a 0.83 WHIP, and 64 strikeouts in 42 innings.
Payton Tolle
The lefty from TCU got the ball against San Diego last night and led the number 18 team in the country to a 1-0 win in a complete game shutout that saw him strikeout 15, as well as walking three and giving up five hits. Tolle this season has made six starts going 2-1 with a 3.73 ERA, a 1.18 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts in 31.1 innings. At the plate, he is hitting .216 with two home runs, 11 RBI, and five runs scored.
Hagen Smith
Smith is the 15th-ranked draft prospect by MLB Pipeline and is the ace of the number one team in the country’s staff in Arkansas. Last night he got the ball against Auburn and went six shutout innings striking out 12. Smith has made six starts going 4-0 with a 1.24 ERA, a 0.72 WHIP, and 62 strikeouts in 29 innings.
Chase Burns
Burns is the 16th-ranked prospect for the draft by MLB Pipeline and the ace of the number 16 Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Last night against Louisville he went seven innings giving up one run on three hits; he didn’t issue a walk and struck out 12. Burns this season has made six starts going 5-0 with a 1.93 ERA, a 0.83 WHIP, and 68 strikeouts in 37.1 innings.
