The Guardians suffered an 11-1 loss last night. They will look to even the series with the Twins tonight in game two. That is now three straight losses for the Guardians. Cleveland is 15-13 on the year. They are in second place, two and a half games back from the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central. Before tonight’s game, the Guardians announced a flurry of roster moves impacting their pitching staff. They have placed one reliever on the 15-day injured list. Another has been optioned to Triple-A. Two more are being brought up from Triple-A.

Shane Bieber

The Guardians have announced a change in Bieber’s status. They have transferred him from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list. This is as he continues to recover from his 2024 Tommy John surgery.

Paul Sewald

The Cleveland Guardians have placed Sewald on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder sprain. He has appeared in 14 games for the Guardians this year. Sewald has one win and one loss on the year with one save. In 11.2 innings, he has a 6.17 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP.

Vince Velasquez

The Guardians have selected the contract of Vince Velasquez from the Columbus Clippers. The thirty-two-year-old right-hander has not pitched in the major leagues since 2023. He made eight starts in 2023 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He had a 4-4 record and a 3.86 ERA for the Pirates.

Joey Cantillo

The Guardians have recalled Cantillo from Triple-A ahead of tonight’s game. He has pitched in 11 games so far this year for the Guardians already. Cantillo has a 2.35 ERA, a .220 batting average against, and a 1.37 WHIP. In 15.1 innings of work, he has allowed 13 hits, nine runs, four earned runs, eight walks, and struck out 20.

Cody Bolton

The Guardians have optioned right-hand pitcher Cody Bolton to Triple-A. He will continue his season pitching for the Columbus Clippers. Bolton has only pitched in one game for the Guardians this year. He pitched two innings, allowing four hits, three runs, and struck out one. He heads to Triple-A with a 13.50 ERA and a 2.00 WHIP.
