
The Cincinnati Reds wrap up their three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays tonight. The Reds started the series off with a 5-4 win before dropping last night’s game 12-9. The Reds sit five games back of the final Wild Card spot entering play tonight. Ahead of tonight’s game, the Reds recalled right-handed pitcher Lyon Richardson from Triple-A Louisville. To make room for Richardson, they optioned left-handed pitcher Reiver Sanmartin to Triple-A. They also sent catcher Tyler Stephenson on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville.

Lyon Richardson
Richardson, in 33 games for the Reds this season, is 0-3 with a 3.93 ERA, a 1.47 WHIP, and 30 strikeouts in 36.2 innings. In 19 games at Louisville, he is 5-0 with a 4.88 ERA, a 1.45 WHIP, and 27 strikeouts in 27.2 innings.
Reiver Sanmartin
Sanmartin, in his lone appearance last night, went 1.2 innings, giving up an unearned run on two hits. He walked one and struck out two. In 41 games at Louisville, with two of those coming as starts, he is 6-2. He posts a 2.79 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and 44 strikeouts in 58 innings.
Tyler Stephenson
Stephenson has been out since August 15th, dealing with a thumb injury. In 72 games this season, he’s hitting .226 with a .705 OPS. He has 15 doubles, nine home runs, 36 RBI, 32 runs scored, and 32 walks. Stephenson started the season at Louisville, playing in eight games, hitting .107 with a .515 OPS. He had a double, a home run, two RBI, four runs scored, and six walks.
