The Cincinnati Reds today wrap up their series with the Los Angeles Angels, looking to complete the sweep. The Reds took the first game 4-1 and the second game 6-4. The Reds are 10-7 in August, averaging 4.3 runs per game while allowing 3.6 runs per game. They sit just one game back of the final Wild Card spot in the National League. Ahead of today’s game, they placed catcher Tyler Stephenson on the 10-day injured list retroactive to August 17th with a left thumb fracture. The Reds selected the contract of catcher Will Banfield from Triple-A Louisville.

Tyler Stephenson

Stephenson, this season in 72 games, is hitting .226 with a .705 OPS. He has 15 doubles, nine home runs, 36 RBI, 32 runs scored, and 32 walks. He finished sixth in Rookie of the Year voting in 2021.

Will Banfield

Banfield is in his first season in the Reds organization. In 72 games at Triple-A hit .220 with a .581 OPS. He has 13 doubles, two home runs, 23 RBI, 22 runs scored, and 17 walks. In 589 career minor league games, he has hit .225 with a .644 OPS. He has 105 doubles, ten triples, 63 home runs, 307 RBI, 261 runs scored, five stolen bases, and 143 walks.
