Cincinnati Reds Roster Moves 7/3

Cincinnati Reds Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Cincinnati Reds enter play today with a 40-45 record and sit 10.5 games back from the National League Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers. They split the series with the St. Louis Cardinals and took the first of three from the New York Yankees last night. After the quick three-game series with the Yankees, the Reds will head home to host the Detriot Tigers over the weekend. The Reds are on the fence regarding being buyers, or perhaps even sellers at the deadline, and these next six games could be key to pushing management in one direction or the other. Before the game tonight, the Reds announced two roster moves.

OF – Blake Dunn

The Reds have recalled Dunn from the Louisville Bats in Triple-A. Dunn has been up earlier this year with the big club, getting into seven games and having ten at-bats. He scored four runs, had one double, walked once, and struck out twice this year with the big club. While playing for the Louisville Bats, he has played in 55 games with 34 runs scored, 43 hits, ten doubles, two triples, five home runs, 24 RBIs, 26 walks, 66 strikeouts, and 11 stolen bases. He is slashing .228/.341/.381 with a .722 OPS in Triple-A.

SS – Levi Jordan

The Reds Optioned Jordan back down to Triple-A to play for the Louisville Bats today. In seven games with the Reds, Jordan earned ten at-bats where he had one run scored, one double, one RBI, and struck out three times. So far this year, with Triple-A, he has been slashing .302/.384/.443 with a .827 OPS.

Wrap up:

With each passing series, the importance of each series win seems to grow more and more for the Cincinnati Reds. A series win over the Yankees would be a positive sign as they head home to play four games against Detriot. While Jordan has been impressive in the minors this year, his first stint with the Big Club didn’t go well. Dunn will look to improve on his last stint with the big club, hoping to make a positive impression on management and earn him a little longer run this time.
