The Cincinnati Reds will look to even the series with the Cardinals this afternoon. They hope to bounce back after a tough loss last night in St. Louis. Before the two NL Central teams take the field today. The Cincinnati Reds have announced two roster moves impacting their pitching depth. The Reds have recalled a young starter from Triple-A and optioned a relief pitcher back to Louisville as well. The Reds and Cardinals face off this afternoon at Busch Stadium.

Chase Petty

The Reds have recalled Chase Petty from Triple-A Louisville ahead of their second game of the series with the Cardinals. Chase Petty will return to the Reds, trying to improve on his previous two games he started earlier this year. Petty has two losses in those two starts along with a 21.94 ERA. In five innings and one-third, Petty has struck out seven but walked eight batters. In Triple-A this year, Petty has a 1-4 record with a 2.76 ERA. Petty has made 10 starts in Louisville and pitched 45 and two-thirds innings. Petty will look to build off his success in Triple-A to show improvement from his previous starts this year.

Luis Mey

The Reds have optioned Luis Mey in a move to make room for Petty before the game today. Mey has pitched in 15 games for the Reds so far this season. He has pitched 14 and one-third innings with one victory recorded. Mey has recorded two holds, allowed two home runs, 10 walks, and struck out 15. He has a 4.40 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, and a .160 batting average against for the Reds.
