The Chicago White Sox are set to face the San Diego Padres in Cactus League play today. They have four wins and eleven losses so far this spring. Today March 11th, 2025 the White Sox have optioned former First round pick Colson Montgomery down to Triple-A Charlotte. Two other players are also being sent down to Charlotte as well. The team has also added three names to the roster ahead of their match-up with the Padres.

Colson Montgomery – Shortstop

The Chicago White Sox have optioned top prospect Colson Montgomery to the Triple-A Charlotte Knights today March 11th, 2025. Montgomery struggled this spring for the White Sox. He had nine at-bats with one hit which was a home run and drove in two RBIs. Montgomery leaves camp with a .111 batting average. Last season Montgomery spent the entire season with the Charlotte Knights in Triple-A. In 130 games played he had a batting average of .214 and a slash line of .329/.381/.710. The former first-round pick was taken with the 22nd overall in the 2021 draft. He will return to Triple-A to improve on last year’s offensive numbers.

Nick Nastrini – Right-hand Pitcher

The Chicago White Sox have optioned Nastrini to the Triple-a Charlotte Knights today March 11th, 2025. Nastrini finished spring training with a 3.52 ERA over 7.2 innings pitched in a total of three appearances. He struck out six batters in that time and recorded a 1.43 WHIP. Last season Nastrini appeared in nine games, making eight starts for the White Sox. He finished the year with zero wins and seven losses. He pitched 35.2 innings of work with a 7.07 ERA, 36 walks, 26 strikeouts, and a 1.91 WHIP.

Owen White – Right – Hand Pitcher

The Chicago White Sox have optioned White to the Triple-A Charlotte Knights today March 11th, 2025. White appeared in spring training throwing one inning without factoring in the decision or allowing a run. The White Sox claimed White off waivers from the Yankees this past February. He will start his first season with the White Sox in Triple-A.

The White Sox have trimmed down their roster in preparation for opening day. However, they have also assigned three players to the roster before today’s game. They have assigned right-hand pitchers Tristan Stivors and Joseph Yabbour. Outfielder Matt Hogan has also been added to the roster today, March 11th, 2025 by the White Sox. The decision to option Colson Montgomery to Triple-A shouldn’t come as a surprise. He struggled this spring. He also struggled all of last season with the Charlotte Knights. The White Sox continue to shape their opening-day roster with these moves.
