The Chicago White Sox wrap up a three-game series with the Seattle Mariners this afternoon. The White Sox started the month 2-0 but have since dropped three straight. In five games this month, they are averaging 4.2 runs per game while allowing 5.4 runs per game. Ahead of today’s game, the White Sox placed shortstop Chase Meidroth on the ten-day injured list retroactive to August 4th with a right thumb contusion. They selected the contract of shortstop Jacob Amaya from the Charlotte Knights. They also designated right-handed pitcher Gus Varland for assignment.

Chase Meidroth

Meidroth is hitting .252 this season in 84 games with a .650 OPS. He has 12 doubles, three home runs, 15 RBI, 36 runs scored, 11 stolen bases, and 33 walks. In nine games at Triple-A Charlotte, he hit .267 with a 1.050 OPS. He has a double, three home runs, four RBI, 11 runs scored, two stolen bases, and eight walks.

Jacob Amaya

Amaya, in 33 games this season with the White Sox, hit .097 with a .232 OPS. He had a double, seven RBI, six runs scored, two stolen bases, and two walks. In 34 games at Triple-A Charlotte, he hit .291 with a .865 OPS. He had four doubles, five home runs, 17 RBI, 15 runs scored, two stolen bases, and 20 walks.

Gus Varland

Varland, this season in the minor leagues, has appeared in eight games, with one of those coming as a start. He’s posting a 5.68 ERA, a 2.05 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in 6.1 innings.
