Chicago Cubs Linked to Superstar Shortstop

Cubs linked to superstar

The Chicago Cubs finished second in the National League Central and just one game out of the NL Wild Card, leading them to miss the postseason for the third consecutive season. They are looking to improve entering 2024 to overtake the Milwaukee Brewers in the division. Their division rival, the St. Louis Cardinals, has already been active, as they have signed two starting pitchers already. The Cubs currently have two big names as free agents, Marcus Stroman and Cody Bellinger, but they need to look at them as the pieces to fix the team for 2024. Instead, they are in talks with a team North of the Border about adding one of their superstar bats. It has been reported that the Cubs have had conversations with the Toronto Blue Jays about the possibility of acquiring Bo Bichette, and he would play third base for the Cubs if they were to acquire him.

Bo Bichette By The Numbers

The Blue Jays drafted Bichette in the second round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of Lakewood High School in Florida. Bichette would make his big league debut on July 29, 2019, against the Kansas City Royals, going 1-4. He has spent the last five years with Toronto slashing .299/.340/.487 with a .826 OPS, with 130 doubles, six triples, 89 home runs, 312 RBI, 331 runs scored, 51 stolen bases, and 127 walks. He is a two-time all-star and has a 17.7 WAR for his career.

Predicting the Cubs Lineup with Bichette:

CF – Mike Tauchman
2B – Nico Hoerner
LF – Ian Happ
3B – Bo Bichette
RF – Seiya Suzuki
SS – Dansby Swanson
DH – Christopher Morel
1B – Matt Mervis
C – Yan Gomes

That lineup would do a lot of damage in the National League Central and could compete with any of the teams within the division.
